Why choose Arequipa?

Why choose Arequipa?

In Arequipa, the event doesn't just happen in a venue: it happens throughout the city, in its landscapes, and in its rhythm. It's a destination that invites you to discover, connect, and live experiences that enrich every encounter.

Strategic Location and Connectivity

Arequipa, known as the "White City," is located in southern Peru at an altitude of 2,335 meters, with an estimated urban population of 1.2 million. Its international airport (Rodríguez Ballón International Airport) and its location in the southern Andean corridor make it an ideal gateway to the country and the region.

Heritage, Identity, and Experience

The historic center of Arequipa, built from volcanic stone, has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This unique architectural and cultural environment offers a highly valuable urban setting for meetings industry events, providing not only infrastructure but also identity and impact.

Innovation, Economy, and Local Value Chain

Arequipa is also an economic engine for the country, with industrial diversification and a developing business services and MICE ecosystem. Choosing Arequipa for an event is not just choosing a destination; it's connecting with an emerging region, with local suppliers, partnerships, and a committed value chain.

Gastronomy: Flavor that Leaves a Mark

Arequipa is considered the gastronomic capital of Peru. Its cuisine has been recognized by the Ministry of Culture as a National Cultural Heritage for its authenticity and diversity. Among its emblematic dishes are rocoto relleno (stuffed rocoto peppers), ocopa arequipeña (a type of potato and cheese dish), adobo dominical (a traditional stew), chupe de camarones (shrimp chowder), and Amerindian convent desserts. Traditional picanterías, typical restaurants of Arequipa, are spaces where history, culture, and flavor converge. Organizing an event here means offering participants a unique culinary experience, ideal for gala dinners, receptions, or companion programs.

Growing Infrastructure for the MICE Industry

The mix of convention centers, world-class hotels, and congress venues alongside iconic spaces makes Arequipa an attractive option for the meetings industry.

Diverse experiences for companions and networking

The city offers an attractive combination of culture, gastronomy (Arequipa is renowned for its Peruvian cuisine), scenery, and incentive or complementary activities for congress and convention participants. A key advantage for the meetings industry!

Impact, sustainability and legacy

An event in Arequipa has the potential to leave a tangible legacy, both for participants and the host community. From urban revitalization to knowledge generation, its contribution to the city extends far beyond the event itself. Furthermore, the presence of heritage, nature (such as the volcanoes surrounding the city), and culture creates memorable experiences that amplify the value of attending.
